How It All Began
Pastor Fred Musser and his wife, Joan, began a Full Gospel, non denominational ministry in Lawrenceville, Georgia after Pastor Fred Musser resigned his denominational pastorate in August of 1973. The first meeting of The Tabernacle Church was held on Sunday, November 18, 1973, in the chapel of a local funeral home with 39 people in attendance. Shortly thereafter, they rented the old “Oakes” home, otherwise known as “The Meeting House,” one block east of the historic courthouse on Crogan Street.
The fellowship was constituted as a church on January 6, 1974. Approximately a year later, the church purchased the old Thompson Theater, one block south of the square on Perry Street. The “old theater building” was “home” for The Tabernacle for the next seven years before the congregation outgrew the building. Then a miracle happened! The church was blessed with the opportunity to purchase 17 acres of land for much less than market value on Simonton Road in Lawrenceville, which is our existing location. Then another miracle happened! The County leased the theater building from us, making it possible for us to begin construction on our existing building. Services were held at Tim Stewart’s Funeral Home until this building was ready to be occupied in the summer of 1983.
In 1985, Pastor Fritz Musser returned to Lawrenceville after having pastored in the United Methodist Church in Kentucky. He shared the pastoral responsibilities of The Tabernacle with his father. In 1993, Pastor Fred Musser turned the ministry over to his son and Pastor Fritz Musser became the Senior Pastor of The Tabernacle. Pastor Fred Musser was ordained as an Apostle. Apostle Fred Musser served as the North American Crusade Director for Morris Cerullo Ministries.
Over the years, our name changed to Tabernacle International Church,with over 35 nations represented in our congregation. Tabernacle International Church has over 50 outreach ministries, which are impacting our community and beyond. A strong children’s ministry has been established called Heir Force, and an active youth ministry called ACTS 365.
Pastor Fritz Musser was ordained as Bishop in 2008. Bishop Fritz and First Lady Lisa Musser are actively equipping the saints and raising up leaders locally and around the world. We praise God for His many blessings and for all that He continues to allow us to do for His glory.
